Steve Morris

Steve Morris is the Executive Director of OTBC. He is a veteran of three start-ups, and has more than 25 years of management experience in the software, service, and semiconductor test industries at companies such as Hewlett Packard, Integrated Measurement Systems, Cadence Design Systems, Mentor Graphics, Credence Corporation and Teseda Corporation.  He holds a B.A. in mathematics from Reed College and a Masters of Science degree from Carnegie-Mellon University Graduate School of Industrial Administration(now The Tepper School of Business).

Mark Paul

Mark has over thirty years of executive level leadership experience - including 11 years at Global 500 companies (Ford and Northrop Corporations, where he built a 250-person business unit in two years) and 21 years of interim executive and business consulting. He is Managing Partner at Synergy Consulting Group, a business development consultancy.   Synergy Consulting (www.synergy-usa.com) helps companies attract more customers, increase their revenue, profitability and company value.  Mark has served on boards of directors and advisors for several companies. He has a degree in Physics and wrote “The Entrepreneur’s Survival Guide” and “How to Attract Significantly More Customers… in good times and bad.”

Al Jones

Senior manager with 30 years experience defining and executing flexible, results-oriented product development processes: establishing agile processes such as continuous integration and scrum to be able to react to continuous requirement changes; maintaining rapid, high quality deliveries, while maintaining sanity for the engineering team; driving the development lifecycle, from product definition, requirements, and specification through design, development, quality assurance, release, and customer support; building, directing, motivating, and retaining teams including managers, architects, teams leads, and individual contributors; managing projects and teams in large distributed corporate environments.

Bart Massey

Bart is an Assistant Professor at Portland State University and is a widely recognized as an expert on open technology.

Bill Etheredge

Bill has 32 years experience in VP/executive global sales and marketing in numerous high technology sectors where responsibilities included developing and enabling product definition, product launch and distribution strategies with a primary focus on aggressive revenue and market share growth. The scope of these responsibilities ranged from the development of market and channel strategies for early stage companies to the major revamping of strategies for Fortune 500’s. Technology sectors spanned computer peripherals, high frequency GaAs FET components, client-server software, data communications, and test and measurement systems.
Currently Bill is Principal at WCE Consulting, a firm focused on revenue and market share growth through sales and channel strategy alignment. In addition he serves on a number of emerging company advisory boards, is am active board member at OEN and is an adjunct instructor at PSU and U of O.

David Eastman

David Eastman has extensive experience in building venture start-ups into commercially viable companies, with domain expertise in the semiconductor, high technology, biotechnology and medical device industries, specifically developing business plans, integrated marketing campaigns and go-to-market strategies for devices, systems & software. Currently, David is the Chief Executive Officer of Gamma Therapeutics, a new biotechnology venture start-up developing a host of medical devices and solutions for the cardiovascular disease industry. From 2008-2009, David was the Interim CEO of Yecuris Corporation, a biotechnology company developing humanized mice for drug discovery. He was instrumental in raising $1.5 M in venture capital, launching the company globally, and building strategic partner relationships with ten of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, Merck and GlaxoSmithKline. 

Dennis Powers

Mr. Powers is the Managing Partner of Cornerstone Management Resources and has over 35 years experience in technology ventures. He has been an officer and/or director in a number of companies that have successfully gone from early formation to successful exits. He has experience on several boards of directors, is an active angel investor, and volunteer in the entrepreneurial community.

Current Positions:
Managing Partner and Founder, Cornerstone Management Resources, Oregon. Cornerstone Management Resources (CMR) is a consulting firm that for the past 5 years has focused on assisting early stage companies in areas such as team formation, development of market strategies, market research, financial projections, and funding strategies leading to a complete investor ready offering. In addition, for select companies, CMR also assists with raising the initial Seed/Series A round of capital. CMR clients have successfully raised over $8M.
Founded in 1998, CMR has provided leadership in all aspects of business development and revenue acceleration for emerging and mid-market companies. He has successfully completed numerous projects involving strategic planning, business plan creation, sales channel development, marketing programs, and extensive work in leading merger/acquisitions projects for mid-sized companies.
Professional Background:
Mr. Powers’ early career with Westinghouse Electric Corporation (5 years) and Thorson Company (7 years) as an engineer and sales executive eventually led to his first early stage company, TriQuint Semiconductor. Although not a founder, Mr Powers joined TriQuint in its early days as its first sales executive and eventually became VP of Sales and Marketing. Subsequent to a three-way merger, he held the position of VP and Business Unit Manager of the Digital ASIC product  division. After leaving TriQuint in 1992, he joined Flir Systems briefly (18 months) to help lead the development of their first handheld infrared imaging product line. During that time Mr. Powers was recruited by Tektronix to join the senior management team of Merix Corporation, a Tektronix spinout. As VP of Sales and Marketing, he was part of the Senior management team that successfully completed an IPO, completed several M&A transactions, and successfully grew Merix into an industry leader. Mr. Powers left Merix to form Cornerstone Management Resources in 1998. Mr. Powers holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Oregon State University and a master’s of science in the management of science and technology from the Oregon Graduate Institute, now part of OHSU.

Other Experience:
For 4 years, Powers was a Board member of the Oregon Science and Technology Partnership, a non-profit that was instrumental in pioneering the formation of the NW Defense Collation, a regional Biofuels conference and the emergence of wave energy technology interest in Oregon. Previously he also held a board position with Ambitech International, a California high tech manufacturing company. Currently, Mr Powers is an active board member of the Oregon Entrepreneur Network, the leading entrepreneurial organization in Oregon and the Oregon Technology Business Center, an early stage company incubator, located in Beaverton, Oregon. Mr. Powers is an active community volunteer, a past chair of the Portland Angel Network, member of the Angel Oregon investment conference steering committee, and an active Angel Investor.

 

Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne is an energetic leader with over 25 years of experience in technology, product development, program management, professional services and organizational development. He has history of focusing on the organization as a whole; developing the strategies, people, processes and relationships necessary to achieve overall success. A committed entrepreneur, Dwayne has held senior executive positions in several high growth organizations and has lead or participated in over fifty mergers and acquisitions, integrations or early stage investments.  His current focus is on helping teams with a good plan and market opportunity find the right people, funding and support that scores a win for all participants.

Hugh Heinsohn

Hugh is a senior manager with extensive business development, marketing and management experience in the international business community. His strengths include strategic planning, marketing, sales, partnering, international business and pricing strategies. He has a successful track record in sales of high value products and services to large corporations and has particular expertise in data visualization, telecommunications, image processing, video on demand, and business intelligence software.

Dave Madden

Dave is a patent attorney with decades of experience in semiconductors, electronics, software and networks.  He's happiest when figuring out how a start-up can make effective use of the legal system, but he's pretty handy with a soldering iron, too.

Larry Logan
Len (Van) Van Regenmorter

Van worked on the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo space programs with Honeywell, concentrating in the areas of Inertial Guidance Systems, visual displays for astronauts, and hand controls for the Command Capsule and Lunar Excursion Module. Moved to Control Data in 1969 as a program manager for large computer systems. In 1977 moved to Oregon to work for Floating Point Systems, a supercomputer company, where he became Director of Engineering.
From 1991 to 1998 he ran his own consulting business working with small growing hi-tech firms. He would find expansion space, manage all tenant improvements including power, clean rooms, A/C, etc, and then move the company into its new quarters. Len retired in 1998 and immediately began volunteering for SCORE where he has helped numerous clients, especially in the area of detailed financial planning.

Marc San Soucie

I am an elected City Councilor for Beaverton, Oregon. I also chair the Washington County Planning Commission and the Tualatin Hills Park & Rec Bond Oversight Committee, and serve on the Joint Water Commission. I worked for 26 years in the software industry, at Wang Laboratories, GemStone Systems, ShareThis Inc., and Passport Online.  I've been a Chief Technology Officer, VP of Engineering, and an angel investor.  I have a consulting practice, helping small software companies wrestle with growing pains.

Shelley Gunton

Wm Leler

Wm's involvement with start-up companies includes management, product development, and marketing positions. At Ithaca Software, which was acquired by Autodesk, Wm was responsible for new product development —- building new tools for distributed programming and graphics. As one of the first five employees at Cogent Research, Wm successfully built and managed the graphics group, and designed the underlying technology used in their groundbreaking operating system —- a distributed version of UNIX.
Wm was the founder, president, and CTO of Zat, Inc., whose component-based application assembly tool won Programming Tool of the Year at the Web '99 conference. Wm sold Zat to WebGain in a deal valued in the mid eight figures. After that, Wm became an angel investor and consultant, as well as taking on management and board of director positions at a variety of local companies, including DigiSlice, and eMarket Group. Wm is now involved in a new startup, Emota.net, which is building ambient social networks for health applications.

Iris Sasaki

 Iris has an extensive Human Resources background as a generalist and an executive.   She is equally comfortable providing executive counsel or conducting an internal investigation.  
Respected by the HR community, Iris is sought after in many extreme employee relations situations.

 Patrick M. Wheeler is the Managing Director at Management Contract Services and is a professional executive with an MBA and 25 years of management and consulting experience. He has worked with a large variety of companies, including service industry, wholesale industry and technology companies with sale of $1M-$15M.  He has experience as a CEO, COO, GM and contracted CFO. Dr. Randy Kinnison

Dr. Kinnison is a professional who brings over 30 years of experience surrounding mediation, counseling, and helping others solve difficult life issues. He graduated with honors with a BA, Masters and Doctoral degrees. Dr. Kinnison has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  He is active in the community serving on non-profit boards and assisting others in a variety of services.  Randy and Sharlyne were married over 34 years ago and together have five children.

Dr. Kinnison has led or established non-profits for the last 30 years.  He understands the dynamics between boards, management, staff, and customers.  He teaches conflict management skills and interoffice communication.  He assists in succession planning in sole proprietorship, family business or partnerships.  He has expertise in productivity, leadership, and building consensus. He assists in the forming of partnerships and family businesses as well as dissolutions.  He works with small businesses, clinics, and non-profits and corporations.
