We've been doing our best to track start-up investments in 2010, and wanted to share the results - because it's encouraging to see money being invested, and it's helpful to entrepreneurs to see who is actually investing in Oregon companies. By "investments" we mean angel and venture capital investments, but we've also included government grants to start-ups - like SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) grants.
And yes, the list is surely incomplete. But here's what we have so far:
32 funding events
4 Angel investments (Abacast, Columbia Power Technologies, Oh! Shoes, Second Porch)
20 venture capital investments
3 strategic-investor investments (ActiveTrak, Kryptiq, Solar Nation)
2 grants (on an SBIR) (Blacktoe Medical, Naturally Advanced)
2 large debt financing (ClearEdge Power, Torii Mor Winery)
1 unknown source (Upwind Solutions)
Total value: $199,274,000
So what have we missed? Please check out the complete list at http://www.otbc.org/funding. For each funding event, you'll see the start-up's name, how much they received, and from who (if that was announced).
And in the comments to this post, let us know who we missed! There must be more angel investments and SBIR grants that we didn't capture. We'll keep adding what we find to the database in the hope that it becomes a helpful resource for entrepreneurs who are planning to raise money.
